4th November
Leading : Phil B
A 23 miles route with a mix of road and cycleways and over 900 feet of ascent. There are two significant climbs. We will leave Wigan on the Westwood Way cycleway into Goose Green before climbing through Winstanley estate on the shared footpath up to Windy Arbour. We then join the road and cycle down through Billinge where we enter country roads taking us through Crank and past Fairfield Hospital. We cycle through Berrington’s Lane before entering the cycleway taking us down Rainford Bypass. After 2½ miles we leave the cycleway and join Bushey Lane. We pass through Rainford Junction then begin our gradual climb into Crawford village and on through Pimbo into Upholland. When we reach Hall Green we commence our descent back to Wigan. Our return takes us through Orrell Post and Kitt Green into Martland Mill Industrial estate. We then pass the Brick Stadium and join the Wallgate cycleway back to Trencherfield.
Everyone is welcome to join us at the Red Pepper café for a drink and a chat after the ride.
Non-members are very welcome to come along for a ride or two before joining, all we ask is that you fill out one of our membership forms before doing so and bring it along with you as well as your own bike & helmet to use on the ride.
