The ride is 22 miles in length and climbs about 600ft. It starts by going down the Wallgate Cycleway, the canal and to Martland Mill, then Crooke pads to Shevington and Appley Bridge via Miles Lane. We then ride the length of Lees Lane and down into Newburgh. From there its over to Hoscar down Wanes Blades Road and Hall Lane to Grimshaw Green, Hilldale and Parbold, getting back onto the canal via Wood Lane. From there its back down the canal to Crooke before leaving through the woods to Martland Mill Industrial Estate. We then ride back to the Red Pepper Cafe using Stadium Way, Southgate and beside the River Douglas to Poolstock Lane. The route isn’t suitable for a road bike.
Everyone is welcome to join us for a drink and snack after the ride at the Red Pepper Café, The Investment Centre, Waterside Drive, Wigan, WN3 5BA.

Non-members are very welcome to come along for a ride or two before joining, all we ask is that you fill out one of our membership forms before doing so and bring it along with you as well as your own bike & helmet to use on the ride.

26th May – Jim T: 23 mile and 400ft Amberswood, Hindley Green, West Leigh and Howe Bridge, Lilford Park, Guided Busway, Leigh, canal towpath towards Manchester passing under the East Lancs and working our way round to join the cycle path back to Atherleigh Way. Pennington Flash and canal towpath back to Trencherfield.
19th May – Jim T: 23 mile. Bottling Wood, Whelley Loop, Balcarres, Blackrod, Horwich, Rivington Barn, Sheephouse Lane, Alance Bridge, Yarrow Reservoir, Adlington, Arley Golf Course, Red Rock, Boars Head, Gidlow Lane, and back via Prescott Street and Miry Lane.

24th Mar – Jim T: 22 mile and 800ft. Standish Cycleway to Green Lane, Fairhurst Lane, Red Rock, mineral line towards Adlington, Blundell Lane to Little Scotland, Haigh via Toddington Lane, Crawford’s Wood, Borsdane Woods, Amberswood, Platt Bridge estate, Landgate Lane, Devil’s Backbone and canal towpath back to base.

Cycle way to the saddle then pass the stadium and up Challenge Way through Kit Green and then Orrell – Upholland- Pimbo – Billinge, through Crawford and onto the Rainford linear trail, climb up to Crank and onto Billinge, Windy Arbour, Pemberton through the Saddle Junction, Wallgate and back to Trencherfield.
