Meet at Trencherfield at 9.15am for those riding to Leigh Sports Village to meet up with Richard and others. Ride starts from Leigh at 10.00am. There’s ample free parking at Leigh Sports village for those travelling by car.

We leave Leigh Sports Village for Pennington and cycle down the fireman’s passage to cross under the East Lancs. After a short stretch of the East Lancs cycleway we take tracks past Culcheth High School to Silver Lane Lakes and Culcheth Heights. After a climb up Culcheth Heights we take lanes to Locking Stumps. We go off road to Woolston Park, crossing Manchester Road onto Woolston New Cut.  We cycle beside the Mersey and cross at Kingsway. We cross Victoria Park to Walton Lock joining the Trans Pennine Trail. We cross the Ship Canal and continue on Chester Road past the crematorium to Walton Hall Gardens for our lunch stop. Leaving Walton Hall Gardens we join the canal towpath to Moore and then cycle up Moore Lane to Moore Nature Reserve. We cycle past Port Warrington on the ship canal and rejoin the Trans Pennine Trail at Arpley Meadows.We then join the Sankey Valley Trail. We leave the Trail at Old Alder Lane passing through Winwick Park to Croft. We go up Kenyon Lane to Lane Head, the East Lancs then back up the fireman’s passage to Leigh Sports Village.

Non members are very welcome to come along for a ride or two before joining, all we ask is that you fill out one of our membership forms before doing so and bring it along with you as well as your own bike & helmet to use on the ride. No need to let us know if you’re coming along, just turn up on the day!

17th Sep – Phil B: 23 mile and 600ft. Towpath to Bamfurlong, Viridor via side of railway, Edge Green, Newton, Wargrave , Sankey Valley, Carr Mill, Garswood, Brocstedes, Landgate, Hawkley Woods and towpath back to Trencherfield.
