Tuesday 30th May

John M will be leading:

Just over 21 miles largely on road, so a road bike, hybrid or e-bike will be the preferred option.

We start from Trencherfield Mill and make our way through Mesnes Park, up Kenyon Road, Whitley Crescent and into Wigan Cemetery.  Passing though the cemetery we join the A49 at Boars Heads and as we approach Standish turn left into Prospect Road to get us on to Green Lane, across School Lane and along Witham Close to access the Mineral Line cycle track.

At the end of the Mineral Line, we use Old Pepper Lane to get us onto Mossy Lee Road.  We then travel along Church Lane, Smithy Brow and Bentley Lane to get into Parbold, where we use The Common and Mill Lane on our way to Higher Lane, Lees Lane and Roby Mill.  It’s a left turn into Appley Lane South before we negotiate the shortcut through the housing estate to join Miles Lane.  Shevington village is up next and we cut through Randall Avenue and Vicarage Lane to make our way across the ‘Crooke Pads’ to Crooke village.  The on-going improvement work on the canal towpath means we will cut through the wooded area to get to Fourmarts Road for the final stretch past the DW Stadium, along the Wallgate Shared Cycle Path and back to Trencherfield Mill

Everyone is welcome to join us for a drink and snack after the ride at the Red Pepper Café, The Investment Centre, Waterside Drive, Wigan, WN3 5BA.

Starting at 09:30am from Trencherfield Mill, Heritage Way, Woods Street, Wigan WN3 4AT

Non members are very welcome to come along for a ride or two before joining, all we ask is that you fill out one of our membership forms before doing so and bring it along with you as well as your own bike & helmet to use on the ride.
