This is a 43 miles road ride across West Lancashire to the coast at Southport and back. The route follows quiet country roads and includes just a few very short sections of busier road.
Our ride will commence at Appley Bridge Station Car Park (free parking). The outward route will take us through Newburgh and on to Westhead. We will then pass through Scarth Hill and Town Green to Halsall. The final leg of the outward ride will pass through Shirdley Hill before entering Southport.
We will stop for lunch at Bill Rimmer’s Cafe in Southport. Our return route will begin with a short ride on the promenade cycleway at Southport. You never know but the sea might be in! We will then pass through Churchtown, New Lane and Tarlscough on our way back to Appley Bridge via Newburgh.
The route is relatively flat with no serious hills and the ride will be suitable for any bike.
Dave Holden will be the ride leader.
would really like to do this one but unfortunately circumstances do not allow.
