This 29 miles ride commences from the car park at Lydiate Parish Hall where parking is free of charge.

We leave Lydiate village and quickly join the Trans Pennine Trail. We follow the trail into Formby where we will pass through the National Trust woodland occupied by red squirrels and pay a visit to the sand dunes overlooking the Irish Sea. We then continue following coastal paths and trails through Hightown and Blundellsands. We will then cycle down the waterfront overlooking the masses of Anthony Gormley iron statues on Crosby Beach. Our refreshment break will be at Crosby Leisure Centre close to the seafront where drinks and snacks are available to eat in or take out.

We leave Crosby via a picturesque section of the Leeds-Liverpool Canal which is home to a variety of birdlife. Another section of the Trans Pennine Trail completes the loop back to Lydiate.

This is an easy ride on relatively flat terrain with no hills and plenty of interesting sights on the route. It’s a good ride for someone wishing to test themselves over a slightly longer distance and is suitable for hybrid or mountain bike.

Dave H. is leading the ride, who’s joining him?

Dave, Pete, Roy, Jim T, Pauline, Paula, Sue & Phil, Clive, John, Steve, Jim H, Jules, Graham, Derek Enid, Ian, Fran & Joyce up to now!
